About TechTAK
What is TechTAK?
Studio TechTAK is a show which allows you to call in with your PC problems or questions. We are the #1 tech talk show in Alaska! Our listeners live all over the world. We have people listening over the internet stream on every continent, and the group just keeps growing. We air every Saturday from 4-5pm Alaska time (That's 5-6pm Pacific, 8-9pm Eastern, 1-2am GMT) on KFAR 660am in Fairbanks, Alaska and is streamed live on the internet. You can catch the stream by clicking on the "Listen" button. Be sure to stop by the chat room during the show to catch the really GOOD conversations.

TechTAK is a laid-back, non-structured show where we try to answer your questions in a reasonable amout of time. We started our show on November 6th, 2004. It started with Tak being extremely nervous and has now grown to where he can actually get through a whole show without saying: "Ummmmm." every sentence.

The TECHTAK show is progressing rapidly and we are getting some great calls. People continue to call for help. Our favorite of the callers will always be from those who have answers and suggestions of their own for the listeners. Just because we are hosting a radio show doesn't mean that we have all the answers to every problem, and we REALLY enjoy those who call in with help and tips. Now days our listener base has spread from all across Alaska to Oregon, Iowa, South Dakota, BC Canada, and London, England.

Thanks for listening to TechTAK! Be sure to stop by Raven Mill and say "HI."

Introducing Your Hosts:

Tak Takali Omega built his first "computer" in 1978. After looking at it and realizing that he had just spent 8 weeks building a small PC board with 16 switches that could make little lights come on and display a number on the LED display, (and that's ALL it could do!) it was time for a break from computers. In 1981 he saw and fell in love with the Commodore VIC-20 home computer and it's been a struggle ever since to get him away from the things. Tak graduated from NRI with an AS in Computer Sciences in 1993. He did a 2-year stint with IBM just before y2k and owned and operated MicroMedics in Boulder, Colorado for 12 years prior to moving to Alaska. In total, he has spent 20 years in front of a computer in some form or another. At the same time, Tak was a professional vocalist, (as you can hear from his music on the site linked above.) giving him his lessons in the entertainment industry. He is currently the manager of Raven Mill Computers.

Tak Syn Omega is more than valuable to the show. Not only is she the resident "I hate Microsoft" geek, (Making her the LFWPT of TechTAK) she is also responsible for running the station board and sound equipment. Most Musicians would say "That's no big deal." But they have obviously never seen the inside of a radio studio. There's a lot more than mixing the audio involved! She is also certified in Network Administration. Now if we can just get her to stop muting Tak's microphone! She currently works full-time at Lowe's Hardware and part-time plays "owner" of Raven Mill Computers.

John This is some guy who showed up to watch us during our show broadcast and, after eating all the food in the NNB refridgerator, shouted: "Wow! You guys have a PrastleBluster 5005 Advanced Edition Flux Capacitor???" and proceeded to commence pressing buttons and turning dials. This lead to the "Great Fairbanks Seclusion" in which Fairbanks was cut off from the rest of the world with no access to anywhere via telephone, cell service, internet, credit cards, or walkie talkie. During his trial, he only muttered the phrase "But they're the ones who taught me what a PrastleBluster 5005 Advanced Edition Flux Capacitor was..." He is currently serving out his sentence as the "chief assistant to the assistant to the chief engineer" for NNB Radio in Fairbanks. The rest of the world never noticed.
